Linda Miller
Linda Miller is an accomplished flutist who discovered she still possesses an “inner child.” She received a B.M. from the University of Michigan in Music Education (instrumental) and a M.M. in Flute Performance. But, as she says, “observing my daughter’s Dalcroze class sparked an interest in piano improvisation and eurythmics,” thus prompting a second bachelor’s degree from the Cleveland Institute of Music in Dalcroze Eurythmics. Linda’s achievements include a role as soloist with the University of Michigan Chamber Orchestra and local Michigan regional orchestras, performing Vivialdi’s piccolo concerto. She has been a back-up musician for Seona McDowell, an Austrailian folk singer and is currently a member of the Woody Cock duo for flute and harp. Linda is a long-time dedicated musician—as a freelance flutist with the Composer’s Guild, a music specialist with the Cleveland Music School Settlement for 22 years, and a private flute and piano instructor for 37 years. She is a member and past president of the Greater Cleveland Flute Society. And recognizing that “inner child,” Linda works with young students as a Dalcroze instructor for the Cleveland Heights/University Heights (Ohio) schools. Also acknowledging her connection with budding musicians, she serves on the board of the Contemporary Youth Orchestra. As a self-proclaimed “recycling, reusing, redistributing queen from the 60s” Linda knows that while youth is a source of inspiration, she also finds that anything old can be new again. Linda would like to dedicate her work on THE ANGELUS CD to her father, Justin Mackert.
